Started by a working mom who couldn't find the right help

I'm a full-time working mom. Before we relocated, we had a nanny who simply made my life easier. She filled a gap in our lives perfectly.

Since the move I have spent three years trying to find someone like her, and the process has been so much harder than it should be. And yet there are so many amazing people out there looking for a position.

KhayaKin is here to bring the two together: families who need help at home, and good people who are looking for work.

Checked before they're listed

No carer appears in search until someone on our team has reviewed their profile.

We still recommend that you interview a carer and speak to their references yourself before hiring.

  • Identity and right to workA South African ID, or a passport with a valid work permit. Permits with an expiry date are tracked.
  • Police clearanceCarers tell us their clearance status and can upload the certificate.
  • ReferencesWhere a carer gives references, we mark the ones we have contacted.
  • Re-checked on changeIf a carer changes their documents, references or video, the profile is hidden until we have reviewed it again.
  • Private documentsID documents, passports and permits are only seen by our verification team, never by families.

Questions

Do I need to install an app?

No. KhayaKin runs in the browser on your phone or computer. On a phone you can add it to your home screen from the browser menu so it opens like an app.

Who can see a carer's ID or work permit?

Only our verification team. Families see that a carer is verified, never the documents themselves.

When do I get the carer's phone number?

When the carer accepts your request. Before that you can message each other inside the app.

Can foreign nationals register as carers?

Yes, with a passport and a valid permit that allows work in South Africa. Expired permits cannot be approved.

Do carers have to give references?

No, references are optional. Profiles show how many references a carer gave and how many we have contacted, and you can filter for carers with checked references.

I forgot my password. What now?

Use "Forgot your password?" on the log in screen and we will email you a link to choose a new one.
